A Silver Lining in our current situation…

Sometimes it only takes 1 great idea…Author Read Alouds! Kwame Alexander put together this amazing group of authors that have been hosting Read Alouds in the month of April.

1st week of April – Kwame Alexander read “CrossOver”

2nd week of April – Jacqueline Woodson read “Brown Girl Dreaming”

3rd week of April – Jason Reynolds, National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature read “Look Both Ways”

4th week of April – Picture book authors;

Illustrations are amazing and beautiful!

I have been watching as many as I can. Some of these books have not been released yet!

Each author talks a little about themselves; it may be what inspired them to be a writer, or how they dealt with rejection or how they got their start; thru working in shelters or with disadvantaged kids. Their backstories have been priceless. I encourage everyone who is stuck on “what do I do now?” Or “what can my kids do?”

Check out the Author Read Alouds, its a nice break for kids to listen to someone read aloud. What better way to hear a story than by the author who wrote it! Stay safe and healthy!:)
